Well....
I decided to make a music topic here. I guess this is where we brainstorm songs for the podcast?

I'll do it!
If anyone needs a music leader I can try to run for it. QUESTION: one theme for every podcast or like a title sequence.

I'll need some people to help me.

Re: Well....
Oooh, okay. I didn't know he was the music leader.
Aero, I would offer help, but you probably wouldn't want it because I have a very limited range of musical talents. Like singing the ABC's and playing happy birthday on the piano. XD I can always ask around places for you, if you want.

I guess so, so we have to make up the theme and can't use a song such as for example "Move Along"? Not suggesting we use that song but you know.

Re: Well....
So you're looking to make like an original thingy, like compose it yourself? Kinda like the music on BZPowercast and stuff? Haha, and I love Move Along. I went through this day-long phase that was like 'listen to AAR nonstop'. XD

Move along is whatever awesome has left to the world and I want you to say the chosen one.

But it's not to me.
I'm really a bigger Globus fan than Move Along. That stuff is great for trailers and podcasts. Also for fight scenes and what not. MicroSnipe is the leader so it is up to him.

Yes!
Sure!! So do we want the theme to be slow and epic. Or fast and epic?

Re: Well....
This Site has a bunch of video game themes on it, and some games have some really good soundtracks. I we can't make our own, we can use on of those. (The Star Wars video game music for some of the games is perfect IMO. You guys should give some of them a download. )

Re: Well....
I'd say somewhere between medium and slow; it also needs to be powerful, because we're talking about the Element Lords here.~Aero~ wrote:Sure!! So do we want the theme to be slow and epic. Or fast and epic?

By the way, what type of music are you planning to write? Orchestral or some sort of rock music? I'd much prefer good ol' orchestral with a few additional instruments (maybe even a bit of electric guitar) to some rock song, but that's just me. At any rate, background music will have to be orchestral; you can't really make a rock song into a background.

Re: Well....
I absolutely LOVE the Castle Crashers theme. We should try to write music similar to that.
Might I try my hand at writing a theme for the opening of the podcast? I'm thinking powerful, but in a quiet way; maybe some quiet brass and cello could pull that off.
By the way, if anyone doesn't know what to use to write music on your computer, I have a few names you can google to find some neat software that I myself use:
Linux Multimedia Studio
This program doesn't use musical notation -- rather, it uses a piano-roll editor -- but it's still a very good program. You can use multiple soundfonts for the different instruments, which I like.
MuseScore
This program leans heavily on the sheet music aspect of writing a song. That's okay if you're comfortable with sheet music, but if not I recommend using this to prepare sheet music in case you would like a live recording of an instrument.
Squidfont Orchestral
This soundfont is perfect for strings, wind, and brass; it also has an okay drumset, which you can use to add some percussion to your songs.
I recommend listening to a lot of music in order to get a feel for what a good piece should sound like.

1. Yep, all of them are free. Just google them, download, and enjoy. You should note, however, that the site I got the soundfont Squidfont Orchestral off of also requires you to download a program that decompresses the soundfont file.~Aero~ wrote:These are free rite? first time hearing CC's theme?

2. That's the first time. I've never even heard of Castle Crashers before, much less the music. We should try to emulate that style somewhat in our pieces.
